You can make the invulnerability a bit less convenient.
Personally I feel bosses should be a noticeable difficulty spike right at the end of the level. D1L7 definitely captured this, while D2L4 just had a big robot with more health that just happens to teleport and start the countdown.

They are separate bosses with separate HP. Parallax never anticipated level developers using multiple bosses, and thus when one dies the "boss is dead" function is called - which acts on all bots that have the boss flag set. It runs the "valid boss arena" algorithm from the first (or last?) boss it ...

Be careful about what tracks you assign levels 2 thru 7 - they'll be applied to the 6 secret levels in that order. I don't personally think D1L8 sounds too Quartzon-y :P
(That track gets applied to Quartzon Planetary Vault based on the current scheme)

Personally (from experience) I think it could be a bit larger. Especially since it's on Brimspark. While we're on the topic of size and Brimspark levels, IMO The Cauldron should be larger (if you can tone down the cube count in that one room :P). This happened to me too. I had a perfectly fine copy, copied it into a newer Rebirth's directory, and the briefings vanished - except for the one after L15.

Honestly, my only problems with D3 are the beginning of level 4 and the engine room in level 13.

I've discovered that leaving "classic lighting" unchecked in DLE concentrates the lighting more around the sources rather than distributing it. Combine that with a lower "render distance", and you can get some good atmosphere.

Unless the transparency shows up in XL, it shouldn't show up at all. In all two Rebirth versions I've used, nothing has showed up transparent saved for specifically tagged cloaked walls.

Sadly those aren't MIDI format. Unless you're talking about the D1.5 add-on OST?

I'm going to go out on a limb and actually claim a level for once - specifically 39. At the moment I'm calling it Kryu'is Colony - but that is probably going to change.

I've always found it easiest to get a HOG editor and insert the SNG directly into the mission. This doesn't work in the original, however.

Since I tried the D1 level in D2X-R, I should have gotten a warning about an invalid format and went on my way rather than D2X simply closing.

The logic behind "Metacave" is that it takes the traditional role of being the planet the mine is on (Lunar Outpost, Metacave Weapons Research), and I liked the texturing scheme - hence making a Metacave-textured level makes sense on the planet Metacave.

And I'll see what I can do about Coolyard.
